Gratitude Magic: It's the Little Things

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it makes you wonder why we don't give thanks year round!  Gratitude magic is about the little things in life that matter.  Being a big advocate for the simple living movement, gratitude means a lot to me.  It means finding new things to be grateful for and soaking up each blessing and tiny magical moment.

Every Thanksgiving, it's a tradition in my family to sit around and say one thing that you're thankful for.  It could be for the blessed food that's about to be eaten, the spiked eggnog, or spending time with family and friends.  It's all relative and it all matters greatly.

Gratitude magic goes above and beyond that though, especially if you remember to make it part of your everyday life.  In the morning I write my letters to the faerie folk, but before I do that, I've gotten back in the habit of writing a quick gratitude list.  It sets the mood for the entire day.  When I'm out in the woods, I try to show gratitude and appreciation to the nature spirits by picking up trash or showing an act of kindness.  I may leave them a sweet little offering that I know they would enjoy.

The point is:  Gratitude is real-life magic!  It's a natural way to start healing and begin feeling better about your life.  Again, it's the little things. Did you have a safe, warm, cozy bed to sleep in last night?  Thank you!  Did you brush your teeth that morning?  Thank you for the toothbrush and toothpaste and the water to rinse your mouth out and maybe even the dental floss and mouthwash too.  You are so lucky to have such a beautiful smile!  See what I mean?  It can go on and on.  In a good way!

One of the single most important things you can do manifest what you want and to be a happier person, in general, is through the magic of gratitude!  You can begin to count your blessings right now and suddenly, you'll realize how rich and abundant you really are.

I used to be really into gratitude some years back, but I started to slack off a bit.  This year, I really started applying it back into my life.  I have to say the results have been amazing!  There have been times when I'm so grateful and I feel it on every level of my being, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking, where's my reward for this?  That's not how gratitude works.

Kind of like the power of forgiveness, gratitude is for you.  It builds on those good vibes that you've already created.  This might possibly mean building up so many positive vibes that something good manifests out of it.  For example, a new car or a better home, but that's not at all the point of it.

You stay in an attitude of gratitude because it feels so good to you.  It reminds you of how much you already have.  You begin to count your blessings in your current situation and come to a place of acceptance.  That's where the magic happens!

Count Your Blessings On Your Blog

One of the biggest things to turn around my negative thinking is counting my blessings on my blog!  When I write a personal piece or talk about my daughters in a post, it makes me realize how grateful I am to have them in my life!

I have so much!  The weird thing is, it wasn't until I started writing about my life, that I realized what a great life I have.

There are a lot of struggles in life that I haven't mentioned on this blog.  I lost my baby grandson almost a year ago.  His name was Noah and he was only two-months-old.

We have had financial struggles that are often so painful I can't even begin to put them into words.  I've also suffered from depression so deep at times that I wanted to take my own life.

What I'm saying is, I have things in life too.  Just like all of us do.  Writing about them might be a good release for me and a way to highlight awareness.  But, even with all that, I can still see the beauty in my life!

I live in a tiny seaside fishing village called Ozona, Florida.  I live in a cute little place that's literally a hop, skip, and a jump from the ocean.  My daughters are my best friends.

When I think about it, I have a lot!  I am rich and abundant in all ways.  Writing about it on this blog has really made me count my blessings.

How to Start the Magic of Gratitude

Here are a few things that I do to start the magic of gratitude and to keep it going in my own life.  Every morning, before I write my letters to the universe, I write out all the things I am truly grateful for.

Interspersed with that, I write out positive affirmations about myself.  I plan to write a post about that very soon in hopes that it can change someone else's life too!

When I am writing things I am thankful for I mix them up.  Some of them are things I already have.  For example, the first thing on my list every morning is being thankful for my cup of coffee.

Some of the things I write about, I don't actually have yet, but I write them like I already do.  Reason being: Because they are on the way and I wholeheartedly believe that!

The thing about the magic of gratitude is at first you may barely believe what you are writing.  The more you do it, the more you feel the magic building inside you.  That's called faith, trust, and believe.  You could even call it good vibes because it is raising your vibrations.

Highlights to Gratitude:

  • Write them out every morning or in the evening before bed
  • Write out a few affirmations too, to help build on your new beliefs
  • Write about your life on your blog.  You'll be amazed at how much you really had all along!
Will there be a payoff to being grateful?  There might be.  You might manifest your heart's fondest wishes and desires from this practice.

However, the real payoff is how much better you feel about your life.  One of the side effects I've had from taking hikes and reciting gratitude in my head, is people want to be closer to me.  I attract good people into my life from out of the woodworks.

Another side effect is that I get compliments again wherever I go!  I went through this phase where I had really low self-esteem and it seemed to me no one really noticed me anymore.  All of a sudden, with positive affirmations and gratitude, people are complimenting me all the time!

Gratitude makes you feel good, about yourself and the world around you!  That's the biggest payoff of all :-)
