What My Daily Hiking Adventures Are Like Here in Florida

Today, I thought I'd touch on what my daily hiking adventures are like here in Florida.  I'm fortunate that I live in a place where the weather is good most of the time.

I'm probably able to go on a nature hike eighty percent of the year, which when you think about it, is pretty darn good.  Winter is really the best season for any Floridian because there's less humidity in the air most days.  It also helps that we don't have harsh winters like places up north do.

What I really want to talk about are what my hiking adventures are really like.  Just like anyone else, I have good days and bad days, even in mother nature.  I'd say that's mostly due to my shifting moods.

I don't really blame it on the forest.  I just happen to have a mood disorder that sometimes interferes with spending time in nature.  Actually, nature has been very therapeutic for me, and you can read about it here.

The truth is that when I'm in nature I feel most at home.  When I get to the forest, no matter what type of mood I'm in, I instantly feel better.  This is called forest bathing and you can read about the health benefits of it by reading, The Wonder of Forest Bathing: Shinrin-Yoku.

I typically go to the same park, which happens to be Hammock Park in Dunedin, Florida.  You can read about the effect the butterfly garden has on me in my nature journal.  I go to this park because it's convenient, has some hills, lots of mushrooms, and nice people.

It also has my favorite trail, which is known as Fern Trail.  I bet there's a fern trail in almost every park but this one happens to have a large looming presence of nature spirits within it.

I think a lot of it is due to the fact that it's mostly uninhabited by humans.  You can go on the trail but there are fallen trees in your path, lots of mud from all the rains in Florida, and lots of snakes, bunnies, and critters.

Fern Trail is very much alive with woodland creatures and with that comes the elementals.  There is a multitude of gnomes and tree elves living there.  Gnomes are the protectors of the forest and the trees.

There are flying fairies and nature spirits sitting at the heart of the forest.  You can feel many eyes watching you, even if you cannot see them.  On Fern Trail, it can really be felt.

Not to mention, I've had a lot of magical luck here.  I've found treasures that people have left behind for future hikers.  I've taken the greatest pictures of mother nature here.

These are the hot spots that you have to look for when you go on a nature walk.  These are the paces that lie somewhere in between the earthly realm and the faerie realm.  I call them portals.

You'll feel a shift in energy when you come across a spiritual portal.  It feels as if time stops and you're here on earth yet you are not.  It's a cool, strange sensation.

For more on the in-between, you might enjoy reading, What Life is Like in the Fairy Realm: A Field Guide to the Nature Spirits.  It will help you open your mind and senses to the magic of nature.

What else happens when I'm out on a Florida hiking adventure?  I tend to go there for exercise.  I like hiking because it's a full-body workout.

It helps keep me trim and in shape.  It strengthens my core.  Nature is my healing therapy with lots of mental health benefits too.

Sometimes, I go there to solve a problem I may be having.  I'll either choose an angel to work with, a goddess, or I'll call on the nature spirits for help.  I'll often walk up and down the hills and trails until I feel like my head is clear and like I have the problem worked out.

When I'm feeling depressed or anxious, which is more often than not, I often turn to mother nature and her warm embrace for emotional healing treatment.  You can read about, How to Use Nature to Heal Depression and Anxiety + Natural Remedies to start healing today.

When I'm already in a good mood when I go to the park, I end up having a magical day!  I find treasures left behind, I visit the book bin and find books galore, and I capture pictures of creatures I had yet to find on the forest floor or in the trees.

Those are the days that I look forward to the most.  It feels like a place where I can be myself.  I don't have to wear makeup if I don't want to and I can dress down.  I can just be comfortable in my own skin when I'm in the Great Outdoors.

What My Daily Hiking Adventures Are Like Here in Florida

What do I bring with me when I head into the woodland?  Depending on the adventure, I usually take my worn and tattered blue backpack with the word "Love" written on it.  I'm trying to attract love into my life and I believe it works like magic.

I keep my blue backpack on me so that I can keep things that I find.  Things such as painted rocks, scented erasers, stuffed animals, books, gemstones, and more.  I like to have a place to hold them for safekeeping until I get home.

I also like to bring gear with me when I go, for those times when I have a planned woodland photoshoot.  You can read more on, Tips to Ground Your Energy on a Woodland Photoshoot if you too like snapping photos in the woods.

I like to bring sunglasses with me or a hat to keep the bright, shining Florida sun out of my face.  When I'm not doing that, I tend to wear my hair up in a bun or in messy pigtails or wear it down, long and flowing.  Mostly up I'd say, depending on the weather.

For clothing, I like to wear long tights, yoga pants, and spandex workout shorts.  Kind of like biking shorts, I guess.  At first, I kind of scoffed at the idea of wearing them but they feel so comfortable and make my butt look good.

I like to be comfortable but photo ready to take pictures when I go to the park by myself.  I think it has something to do with all the mother-daughter photoshoots in nature the girls and I like to do.

My daily hiking adventures are nothing short of magical.  Even on my worst days, I at least get to have good conversations with the nature spirits and earthly angels that surround us at all times.  I always leave feeling better than when I started and what could be better than that?
