Currently: Gold in the Air + Indie Folk Song I Can't Get Out of My Head

Currently, there's gold in the air plus an indie-folk song that I can't get out of my head!  I have a secret confession to make when it comes to one of my favorite pastimes.

Back in December, I started taking drives to clear my head and to get some fresh air.  Something about it began to stick with me.  I realize that driving is not the most eco-efficient way to get around, but something about it has been therapeutic to me.

Going on a drive around my town gives me a chance to play some of my favorite indie band labels.  On YouTube, I have a bunch of playlists set up like most people do.  I have this one playlist called, "Songs For The Road (Indie-Folk)," because I like driving around and listening to acoustic style music.

One of the songs that stuck with me is, "Gold in the Air," by Jesse Woods!  This style of indie-folk music just reminds me of a simpler place in time.

It takes me back to the days when I was fourteen, innocent, and had my life before me.  When I'd have the entire house to myself and I'd steal away to the corner of the living room, playing my parent's records with authenticity.

I loved imagining what it must have been like for them, growing up with the folk-style music of the sixties and the seventies. I'd lay on a pile of pillows on the floor, listening to songs about flowers in my hair and summer breezes.

That's why when I listen to my indie-folk music, it brings me back.  Way back to a place that I've never lived before in an era that sounds both gritty and magical.

When I take my drives, it relaxes me, as the wind blows my hair into a fan that spills all around me like spun gold.  It is on those drives I've found another way to connect with my higher self, through laughter and music.

What I love about this song is the way it makes me feel.  As an empath, I can feel the magical notes and energy around the music, and this song literally makes me feel the gold in the air.

The way that music stretches my imagination, the way it calms my mind as it were a picnic at the beach, that is the way my soul feels every day as it branches out into budding leaves.  What makes you feel as if you have gold in the air?

Is it a song?  The laughter of a child?  A heavenly scent that reminds you of someone you love that has passed on?

Whatever brings that kind of magic into your life, lean into it, and let it take you.  Let it envelop you like a warm embrace.

Currently, I'm finding new coping mechanisms that help me with my stress.  Even though I practice daily yoga and take long walks in nature, it's always good to find new ways of managing stress.

For the last couple of months, taking drives and listening to indie music is one of them.  Working from home can lead to cabin fever and fatigue.

Getting out of the house and coming up for air by driving up the coastline seems to do the trick for me.  It's a small thing, but it works for me.

What little things do you do to cope with stress or working a stay at home job?  Don't get me wrong, I love working from home.

It's just good to find a few minutes throughout your day to get away from the desk and computer screen.  If a song gets stuck in your head somewhere along the way, then so be it!

What's important is doing little things to create self-care in your life.  Whether it be driving up the coast or picking wildflowers off the banks of a river, you've got to go with the flow of the moment.

Then, when you come back to your work, you'll feel refreshed and ready to buckle down and get things done.  This is a different kind of current post.

I usually write about what songs I'm listening to, yes, but I also add in the books I'm reading and the shows I'm watching.  This time I wanted to share with you my secret ritual for dealing with stress.

For the past couple of months, it's been driving and taking the scenic route.  Maybe I'll write a post on taking in the scenery soon.

Whatever the case may be, I've learned to do what feels good to me.  There's nothing more raw and pure than music that hits the heart chakra and the feels.  It's a mini escape from my life for the moment and I'm in love with it.
