Life As a Solitary Green Witch!

A Spiritual Retreat For Mental Health During the Coronavirus Pandemic

A tiny American Girl Doll Figurine on the back porch in a tropical style backyard setting
Today, I'm sharing with you a spiritual retreat for mental health during the coronavirus pandemic. We're all dealing with the fact that the world as we know it has changed seemingly overnight and we're all in this together.  I want to share a way for lightworkers everywhere to make it through this difficult time.

When the coronavirus outbreak started, I was already down with a cold virus and my car was in the shop.  It all began when I was already in self-imposed isolation.

Last week, even though I was bedridden, I used my time for deep reflection and to call on my angels and spirit guides for further guidance.  From what I understand, some of my spiritual, like-minded friends have been doing the same.

It's a weird and scary time to be living in so why not make the best of it?  Physically, I never felt worse yet spiritually, I never felt better.

I imagine this is the universe sending a message to slow down as things begin to take shape in our new world.  Spiritual lightworkers that were not awakened are awakening everywhere.

If you stick around, I promise that I do have some messages of hope through all of this.  I'm trying to spread more love rather than fear-mongering into the blogosphere.

Rekindling My Love of Reading:

How have I been spending my time?  Last week, I was doing a lot of rekindling my love for reading.  I bought a couple of books and did some feng shui to my bookshelves.  I've been gathering up a lot of books from the book bin at the park and have got quite a nice collection of reads going.

It's not that I ever really stopped reading.  It's just that I went through a phase where I just couldn't get through a book or focus on reading.  Now, I feel like I'm back and better than ever!

Currently, I'm reading Fairycraft: Following the Path of Fairy Witchcraft by Morgan Daimler!  I'm also going to do some fun reads like Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

As many of you know, Big Little Lies was turned into a show with Reese Witherspoon.  I've yet to see it but after reading the book, I have a feeling I'm going to want to!

The Alchemist is a classic!  It's a book that falls under the magical realism genre, which is totally in my wheelhouse when it comes to influences.

My whole life is a magical realism kind of life, so it's only natural that I'd be drawn to read a book with real-life magic in it.  To me, magical realism is at the underbelly of everything.

So, if you find yourself having some downtime during the pandemic, use this as an opportunity to rekindle your love of books.  Reading really is a great escape!

Spells and Sigil Magick:

Another thing I did during my time in bed was spellwork.  I didn't have the energy to do much else, but I started working with Sigel magick and it's very powerful!

Sigil magick is where you write down an intention and cross out all the vowels and double letters.  Then, you use the remaining letters to create a symbol.  I'm not much of an artist, but I have been having fun with it!

If you are an artist or enjoy doodling, I think you might like to try this type of spell for your witchcraft.  Once you've created your symbol, you activate it in whatever way works for you.

Some witches stare at the symbol while masturbating to seep the Sigel spell into the subconscious mind, while others activate it by putting the symbol everywhere so that it naturally activates.  Do whatever works best for you!

Here's what I did: I played around with my spells and tried it in many different ways.  To activate my sigil symbol, I used bodily fluids around to activate the seal.  Using your own bodily fluids is a more advanced step in witchcraft, so use it at your own discretion.

If you do decide to activate your symbol this way, you can use saliva, urine, blood, a lock of hair, semen, whatever is on your person to get that seal activated.  In addition to that, I burn, bury, or drown my sigils.

I have started to recreate some of my sigils in a spellbook, but most of them have been burned, buried, and forgotten.  Forgetting about your intention is the most important part of Sigil magick, that's why it's a good idea to keep a book of spells on hand to refer to and make notations later.

Prayer, Meditation, Contemplation

What else have I been doing on my spiritual retreat?  I've been doing a lot of praying, meditating, and conveying messages from the other side.

I have a feeling a lot of empaths are on sensory overload with the number of spiritual messages coming through.  I know I am.

That's why last week, I decided to take a step back from my work to reassess the situation.  It's funny, but when the world is turned upside down, it kind of brings your priorities to the forefront.

It was during this time of retreat that I realized some revelations about the direction I'd like to see my blog business go in.  I had to accept that right now at least, I had to be comfortable with not having all the answers.

That's one of the things we do during times of crisis.  We seek answers until finally, we learn that we have to just be at peace and acceptance with where we are in the moment.

I thought I was ready to open a blog shop when in reality, I needed more time to dream up ideas and settle into the new normal.  It wasn't the right time to make big changes in my life.

Right now, I'm trying to be okay with the uncertainty of it all.  There is something that I have in mind, but I think there's a part of me that wants to be sure first.

I'm using my time at home to really gain clarity and direction in my life.  I've been praying a lot.  Prayer brings peace to any situation, whereas worry does just the opposite.

My blog business might be on my mind more than anything right now because of all the happenings in the world with the coronavirus.  More and more people might be working from home and flooding the internet.

I don't know.  I just felt a need to retreat and shift my priorities into focus.  I keep waiting for my epiphany moment and I believe that it has come.

Why?  Writing letters to the universe and burning them keeps bringing more and more clarification to my business, even though sometimes I feel like I'm swimming in circles.

I remembered a point that Archangel Gabriel had made to me.  She told me not to water down my ideas and to use my authentic voice in my original work so that's what I always strive to do.

I joined a witchy membership last week, which is something I pretty much never do, and it opened my eyes to some new things.  Things that I want from my personal life and small business, as they often go hand-in-hand together.

Okay, since I'm being so secret about it, I'll tell you the gist of it.  Ever since I first started blogging, my dream was always to build a community of like-minded, spiritual individuals.  I'm thinking about building a place where people can comment and interact somehow.

In addition to that, I've always wanted to write a magical realism book series since writing fiction was my first true love.  I even thought about blogging a book at one point.

I have since figured out that real life is magic.  I have a burning desire to write a book series.  I always have and with that, I was thinking about creating a memoir-style book membership on the backend of my site.

I've always wanted my book to be interactive with spells, yes or no tarot readings, magical recipes, and the like.  I just wasn't really sure how to go about it.

I'm still processing everything and figuring out all the details of my new spring project.  It's kind of the moment of truth where everything culminates.  All I can say is that it's when we try new things and get out of our comfort zone that new ideas come to us freely!

Witch Academy:

Let's talk about that witchy membership I joined, shall we?  I've been reading, The Traveling Witch Blog a lot lately and came across Witch Academy.

On a whim, at only $6 a month, I decided to give it a try!  I couldn't be happier.  I was laying on the couch reading articles on my phone and decided to do some learning.

What I love about Witch Academy is that Avery creates new courses every month and she includes lessons for beginners, intermediate, and advanced witches.  I feel like I'm intermediate leaning toward going advanced.

In addition to all the cool coursework you'll get, Avery also has a private forum where witches can gather together and make friendships, share spells, whatever.  Since I'm new, I haven't really gotten into that portion of coursework yet.

I guess, even online I'm still a little shy.  I do think at some point though I'd like to get to know the other members and I'll probably email Avery directly through her newsletters since she encourages that kind of dynamic.

Joining the witch academy made me realize that I've been making the workings of my blog complicated.  I needed to boil it down to its simplest form.  I needed to create my own membership.

I've always had a difficult time figuring out how I want to elevate my business and monetize it even further.  But, here's the truth:  All I really want to do is blog all day long!

It's the thing I always come back to.  I love writing, creating content, and snapping pictures.  It's what I was naturally born to do.

The fact that my blog is nature-inspired works perfectly with my life purpose, which is the magic of nature.  Writing and self-expression are my favorite art forms.

Therefore, I came to the conclusion that I want to create an interactive online book membership.  I want to keep doing what I'm doing by sharing my charmed kind of life with my readers.  Avery inspired me to take a leap of faith!

Talk about divine timing!  I was so sure that I had made the wrong decision about the blog shop because it wasn't really what I wanted to do.  What I really want to do is keep doing what I'm doing in a way that brings premium content to my readers.

I think I was making things complicated all along.  I feel like the traveling witch came along just in time for me.  I've been learning so much from her and learning more about myself as a green witch.  I feel like I've found myself and I can't help but smile at that.

Just a few minutes into finding my familiar, I was able to see a white tiger.  I would have never thought my familiar, which is a part of me, would be a predator but in a way, it makes sense for me.

I also tried my hand at astral travel, which apparently I had been doing this entire time and didn't know what it was.  I've been spending time in heaven and the faerie realm for quite some time now and never knew I was astral traveling.

On my journey, I met two more familiars which also explains a lot.  I met a woman that was part wolf.  I also met a tree familiar.

So, I have three familiars.  I have two predators and a tree, which is unusual but for some reason totally suits me, as I work with plant and tree spirits the most.

I'm still getting to know my familiars and spending more time in the fairy realm.  When I visit, it usually involves me spending time in a treehouse built from a thick oak tree.  I usually spend time with either Merlin or the hermit when I'm there, as he carries a lantern filled with fairy lights.

I've mentioned this in other posts, but the hermit, the queen of wands, and the cards in the tarot deck are as real as you and me.  They just live in the in-between.  For more on the in-between, you might enjoy reading, Life in the Fairy Realm: A Field Guide to the Nature Spirits!

As you can see, I'm getting a lot out of my new membership!  You can probably see how I'm inspired to create my own community with built-in nature spirits and homespun magic.  There's nothing more magical than words!

Yoga Retreat:

I've always practiced yoga in my home and now that I'm starting to feel better, I'm warming up to practice again.  I'm trying to create a blessed environment to roll out my yoga mat.

Yoga keeps me sane in a world full of insanity.  If this is something you're struggling with right now, I highly recommend downloading the Down Dog App and going premium!  I think for students and healthcare workers it is free through summer.

Most yoga classes have either closed or went online, so now would be a great time to start an at-home yoga practice.

My biggest tip for creating a yoga retreat would be to make it into a sacred space.  Add houseplants and blooms, gemstones, and zen buddha statuary, and the like.  Make your yoga space a private sanctuary away from the world and its problems.

Now is a good time to be working out period.  With a lot of people stuck at home and under quarantine, I imagine it would be easy to get sedentary.  Making sure you move your body and break a sweat is more essential than ever!

To bless your sacred yoga space, I would call on Goddess Parvati!  She's like the Hindu goddess of positive changes and yoga.  She will bring positive change to your yoga retreat.

For more on this beautiful Hindu deity, you might love to read, Move Mountains With Magic With Goddess Parvati!  She will help you find the inspiration to change your life with yoga and mindfulness.

Being mindful is one of the best things we can do right now to keep a clear head and protect ourselves.  We need to be nurturing and forgiving of ourselves through gentle exercise.

This is a great time to focus on your breath and match it to the movements of your body.  You can also mindfully choose foods that are nourishing for your body and of a high vibration.

How to Create Your Own Spiritual Retreat During the Coronavirus Pandemic:

You can use what I've been doing as a template of things you can do to use your time at home wisely or make up a few of your own.  It might sound strange with everything going on, but this is your time to shine!

The universe is giving the world a universal pause so that we can learn how to slow down and look deep within.  The angels and spirit guides are here to help us through the dark times in order for us to see the light and truth of the situation.

Even during the chaos of a worldwide pandemic, we can still find blessings in our situation.  We can turn a negative into a positive if we look at things with a message of hope.

Do you have a childhood pastime that you'd love to rekindle?  Play hopscotch with your kids.  Most of the kids are home from school right now as a measure of protection.

Was there something you've always wanted to do but didn't have the time for?  Now is the time to do it!

I believe that the universe wants us to slow down and think about what we really love to do.  Do the art, make vision boards, write in your diary, start a blog, whatever gets you back in touch with your creative side.

It's in the doing and the art-making that the answers will come.  Look at life as one big art project that never really ends.

Even though we're stuck inside and many of us are quarantined, it doesn't mean we can't find a way to occupy our time.  Rest, retreat, and enjoy time well-spent with loved ones and spirit helpers.  Make your time on this earth valuable by giving yourself the love you deserve.
