Hiking For Mental Health, Well-Being, and Overall Happiness

I enjoy hiking for mental health, well-being, and overall happiness!  In short, hiking makes me happy, but let's dive into it, shall we?

Since I was a little girl, I always loved spending time in nature, climbing rocks, and hiking with my sights set on waterfalls and brambling woods in the mountains.  As I grew older, my love affair with mother nature has only made the heart grow fonder!

It's only been in more recent years that I've been able to hike on a regular basis.  Before moving to my tiny seaside fishing village in Florida, I lived in a sprawling urban area and didn't have a car to get anywhere.  Nowadays, nature is accessible right when I walk out my front door!

I started using hiking as a natural healing remedy for my depression and anxiety.  Besides yoga and meditation, I have to say that this works the best for me!

While it can't address everything that's wrong with my mental health, it does everything from clear my head to help me find solutions to problems with ease and grace!  Even though I live near the beach, I have a gravitational pull toward the woodland.

When I spend time in the heart of the forest, I feel instantly better.  It's like it gives my mood a mental boost of calm and balance.

I always leave the woods feeling better about whatever is bringing me down, often feeling a sense of clarity wash over me.  If there are things that you are trying to work out in your life, I highly recommend spending time in the forest and the trees.

What is it about the greenery that makes me feel better?  There are some things I can't tell my family or friends.  When I head outside for a little outdoor recreation, I open my heart to the nature spirits and reveal my deepest, darkest secrets.

If you too have some things you'd like to get off your chest, head to your local park or nature preserve for some one-on-one time with the fairy queens, gnomes, and nature angels!  They leave judgment at the door.

They are surprisingly good listeners and have healing abilities that can bring the human spirit back to life.  When you are in a troubled state, it means your chakras are out of balance, your aura is discolored, and your energy field is out of alignment.

The nature of spirits and earth angels will do whatever they can to ease your troubled mind and heal the situation.  They use the elements of nature as a botanical blend of healing remedies!

Let's say that you don't have access to the great outdoors, what else can you do?  If you have even a small patch of dirt or grass, you can practice the art of earthing!  It's therapeutic!

The green of the forest leaves and the textured bark of trees creates healing magic within you which occurs instantly.  Have you ever been to a mountain, beach, or waterfall?  It's like an instant reset button for your emotions!

I'm always looking for natural forms of therapy during times when my depression or anxiety flares up and looking for earth-friendly alternatives definitely takes the cake!  If you'd like a double dose of magical healing properties, you might like to try practicing yoga poses in the forest.  It's fun!

I've come to find that trees are magic!  From the tree bark to the heart-shaped leaves, they really alleviate the signs and symptoms of depression.

Have there been times when it didn't work?  Yes!  There have been times, on rare occasions, that forest therapy wasn't enough to pull me out of my depressed state.

For those times, that means that I'm almost too far gone, and it's time to ask for help from a higher source.  During those times, I've had to seek help from a professional or begin medication.  I will say that's only when my suicidal depression has been left untreated for far too long.

In those cases, I'm also more likely to seek help from Jesus, Archangel Michael, Mother Mary, and Archangel Raphael the most.  If you are in a desperate situation, sometimes it's better to ask for help.

Green therapy is not a replacement for talk therapy or professional medical advice, especially if you are suffering from suicidal thoughts and ideation.  It's more of a stepping stone to help you get better!

For example, I was Baker Acted a couple of years ago, and afterward, I used hiking as a natural remedy to cure my ailments.  But, it's important to note that it didn't happen overnight.  I also was on medication for a few weeks after leaving the mental health facility in order to reset the chemistry in my brain.

Because a chemical imbalance is what makes up the signs and symptoms of depression.  If left untreated, it will only grow worse.  Mine got to the point where a family member grew concerned about me and called for help.

I crawled out of the dark rabbit hole of depression after that carefully and slowly, treading the ground softly.  That was around the time that I started this blog and I realized that I wanted to help other people too.

Introducing you to forest bathing, earthing, and grounding earth energy is a massive boost to your mental health, well-being, and overall happiness.  You just have to step into the darkness of the forest to enter the light!
