Everyday Laurali Star

Life As a Solitary Green Witch!

Hi, I'm Laurali! I live in a tiny, seaside fishing village in Florida where I nurture my plants, go hiking in the woodland, and wear flowers in my hair.

My Super-Sweet Indie Life in Florida

Indie Life
My indie life is on my wishlist.  It's probably a weird thing to wish for, mainly because I'm already living it, but it's also something that I strive to be better at.

You know how you envision your life when you're growing up, and things kind of turn out differently then the picture you had.  Yet at the same time, the quintessential things remain the same.  That's me, all the way!

What turned out differently?  I ended up in Florida and loved it here, then I went through a period of self-doubt and complexity, and I wished only to be able to leave.  I had this picture in my mind of living in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.  I assumed that's where things would eventually lead.

Then life happened, and they didn't.  Oddly, I'm okay with that.  I love Florida and the little town I live in.  I have this great, yet very imperfect life here.

The vision I had is becoming more clear, the indie life I dream of is coming into focus more.  So, what does that really mean to me?

It means a life of freelance writing, blogging independently, and carrying on my family traditions of listening to vinyl records with the kids, camping in the woods under the stars, hiking on the bayou boardwalk, and just genuinely being me.  Whatever and whoever that is.

What remains the same?  The little things that make me who I am.

I may not get to live in the mountains and experience the snowfall anytime soon, but I can walk on the beach at sunset in the summer as a man plays the guitar in his lawn chair as the tide recedes (this really happened!), I can still pick flowers while I'm hiking, and I can still pretend I'm a mermaid when I swim in the ocean.

Whatever the indie life is, it's what you make of it.  The picture is always changing, but the things that make you indie, those things stay sweet, never to dry up and wither away.

It's the music you listen to from 1959, it's the way that long, flowy dress touches the grass as you walk by, and it's the Love's Baby Soft, that you've been wearing as if you were straight out of the seventies.  It's the essence of you.
